Councils Response to 24000 New Houses Proposal

We recently became aware of a letter written by the independent councillors for Thorpe Ward which has been circulated to local residents.  It’s a very interesting response to the Government’s planning whitepaper and targets set for house building in Southend.

The letter outlines the need for a much-improved local infrastructure to support the increase in population which will accompany the new build properties. We believe that many people will be unaware of the plans to build 23,600 new homes in the area and the pressure this will put onto our roads, schools, hospitals and local facilities in general.
